Owners of the original can get the game at 33% off as a thank you from the developers.State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is out today on Xbox One and PC. State of Decay Year One: Survival Edition plans to be the definitive version of Undead Labs’ initial release, and will be available for download and in stores on April 28th. The game will include the updated release of State of Decay’s original campaign, which has players following the story of Marcus Campbell, a store clerk who comes back from vacation to find his hometown in shambles, as well as the two DLC campaigns Breakdown, which allows players to see how long they can fend off the zombie hordes, and Lifeline, which explores the story of soldiers defending citizens and making their way to safety. There will also be SUVs ready to aid players in their quest to plow through endless mobs of zombies. Among them was a World War II rifle, accessible for a character exclusively available to owners of State of Decay’s initial release. Undead Labs has taken time to beef up the content in their current gen release, adding 150 guns to the game of varying strengths. The animations, UI, textures, and models of the game have gone through an overhaul as well, giving the game a much more realistic feel. Draw distances are much larger and the game runs at a consistent 1080p and 30 and 60 FPS on Xbox One and PC, respectively. Graphically, State of Decay Year One: Survival Edition is a huge improvement from its predecessor. The game was a solid zombie experience, but Microsoft has trusted Undead Labs to bring an updated version of State of Decay to their next generation of consoles and PC, and it looks and plays beautifully. When games were trying to emulate the lightning-in-a-bottle co-op experience of Day Z, Undead Labs released a solely single-player, story-driven experience devoted to depicting survival in a zombie wasteland. State of Decay released back in 2013 and was a bit of an oddity at the time.
